The Story of Maui

The Story of Maui....

People always ask:  Did you really just up and move to Maui?

Yes, we did.  Maui was a blast!  We had so much fun.  Janelle and I literally went there by the seat of our pants and nothing else.

No connections, no jobs waiting, no place to live.  We sold everything we owned, hopped on a plane, and flew to an Island in the middle of the pacific ocean determined to make it.

And you know what happened?

We thrived!  It was crazy AND amazing at the same time.  At first we were a little scared, but it was fun seeing how we'd do it.  I literally got up at 4am every morning because that's when the Maui Times hit the news stand.

We went from nothing, to finding a place to live, to landing dream jobs, and starting a cleaning business.  I worked at the Hyatt Regency wildlife dept. complete with penguins, parrots, and flamingos.

Janelle worked at the Westin in charge of the Keiki (kids) camp where she made leis, taught the hula, and played at the beach all day.  It was incredible.

We lived aloha all the way.

The experience taught us valuable life lessons.  We met so many wonderful people.  And our condo complete with swaying palm trees was just a stones throw from the deep blue ocean.

We watched whales breach out of the water on our way to work, we swam with beautiful sea turtles, and rainbow colored coral reef.  We even biked down a volcano! (Mt. Haleakala)

Was it always easy?  No.  We learned the grass isn't always greener.  But sometimes it looks that way.  It took more than dreaming and fantasizing, we had to take a ton of action to get the ball rolling.  Then it got easier.
